FAMILY TREE INTRODUCTION

On the following pages I will attempt to include the details of the family tree. It will be based on 2 specific pedigrees i.e. The Lawson Tree and a version based on Ormerods Cheshire, kindly supplied by Clive Boydell of Clifton Campville, Staffordshire. The main source of information will infact be taken from the Lawson pedigree, however earlier data from Osborne Fitz Tesson c1086 is from Ormerod. It is going to take considerable time to collate consequently several visits to my site may be needed to keep up-to-date with my progression.

The Boydell coat of arms:- vert, a cross patonce or.

There is reported to be a second coat of arms i.e. Argent, on a fesse engrailed vert, three mullets pierced or. This coat is arguably the foundation of the arms adopted by their feudal dependents, the Lancelyns.

The Boydells are also said to have a crest i.e. on a wreath, a saracens head couped, thereon a cap turned up ermine, the end of the cap hanging down with a bell attached.
